There's always something going on in and around Sandwich, IL — and this stretch (August 16–22) brings a free family movie night and a nationally known dog show right to the neighborhood. Here's what's on, and how to make a night of it at Bull Moose Bar & Grille.
🎬 Movie in the Park: National Treasure — Friday, August 21
The Sandwich Park District closes out its summer Movie in the Park series with National Treasure at Knights Park (1001 N Latham St). Concessions open at 7 PM and the movie starts at dusk — it's free, all ages, so pack the lawn chairs and blankets. (A Sandwich Park District event; confirm the latest details with the organizer.)
Fittingly, National Treasure is one big hunt through American history — and few spots in town are more historic than Bull Moose Bar & Grille, where part of the dining room is a restored 1893 Pullman Palace car once used by President Theodore Roosevelt. Come in for lunch or dinner before the show, or grab carryout for the park. Every visit earns points in The CLUB, too — 150 points takes $5 off a future check.
🐾 Midwest Jack Russell Terrier Summer Celebration — August 14–16
All weekend long, the Midwest Jack Russell Terrier Club's Summer Celebration takes over the Sandwich Fairgrounds — Friday through Sunday — with 200+ terriers from across the country racing, hunting, and competing. (Confirm details with the club before heading out.) In town for the dogs? Bull Moose Bar & Grille is a short drive from the fairgrounds — a good place to unwind after a day at the trials, with lunch and dinner served daily.
