Halloween Weekend in Sandwich IL 2026: Trick-or-Treat Hours, Playoff Football & More
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, and Sandwich, IL is making the most of it. From official trick-or-treat hours to playoff football and a one-of-a-kind show at the Sandwich Opera House, here's your guide to the last weekend of October in DeKalb County — and where to refuel through it all.
Sandwich Trick-or-Treat Hours 2026
The City of Sandwich has set official trick-or-treat hours for Saturday, October 31, 2026 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. At Bull Moose Bar & Grille, we're getting in on the fun early: stop by 202 S. Main St. between 12 and 2 and we'll have candy ready for costumed kids, and the kitchen is open 11 AM to 4 PM for lunch or an early family dinner before the candy run — costumes welcome, and the Caramel Pumpkin White Russian, our October Drink of the Month, pours its final weekend. At 4 PM we're closing early so our own crew can enjoy trick-or-treating with their families. Have a safe and happy Halloween, and we'll see you Sunday for show day!
Playoff Football in Sandwich
The Sandwich Indians rolled past Lisle 57-12 in the Class 3A opening round — their first playoff win since 2023 — and have earned a First Round matchup with No. 4 Durand-Pecatonica (8-1). The game will be played on the road in Durand, with the date and kickoff time still to be announced by the IHSA (expected October 30 or 31). Can't make the trip? Bull Moose Bar & Grille will host the hometown watch party — follow our Facebook page and we'll share the final game details the moment they're official. Go Indians!
Saturday Morning at the Sandwich Fairgrounds
Early birds can kick off Halloween with the public auction at the Sandwich Fairgrounds, running 8 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, October 31. Make a day of it downtown — lunch at Bull Moose Bar & Grille is the perfect halftime between the auction and trick-or-treating.
Sunday Encore: Forgottonia at the Sandwich Opera House
The weekend doesn't end with Halloween. On Sunday, November 1 at 3 PM, the historic Sandwich Opera House hosts Chris Vallillo's "Forgottonia" — a multimedia journey through rural Illinois that blends live roots music, storytelling, and award-winning black-and-white photography. It's a show about the people and places of small-town Illinois, told from a stage that's been part of ours since 1878. And as always on show nights, the Phantom of the Opera House burger — fresh jalapeños, chipotle mayo, onions, and cheddar — haunts our menu before and after the performance, just steps from the theater.
